THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI is again unhappy as the involvement of MP John Brittas in the PM SHRI scheme has come out. This will be announced in the LDF meeting to be held after the elections.
Brittas has spoken in the Rajya Sabha against the Centre's education policy and its attempts to impose it on the states. The CPI is raising the question of whose instructions the CPM MP acted as an intermediary to implement the same policy.
When the state government signed the project, the CPM Central Committee and Polit Bureau opposed it. Brittas is an invitee in the same Central Committee. The CPI had earlier taken a strong stand against the government signing the PM SHRI without discussing it in the front and the cabinet. The government sent a letter to the Centre to withdraw after the CPI decided to abstain from the cabinet meeting. With the Union Minister himself admitting Brittas's intervention, the CPM is in a position to respond again.
The UDF wants the CPI to clarify its stand on Brittas's mediation. The opposition has also intensified its cyber campaign with slogans like 'You Too Brittas' and 'Britas Munna'.
Meanwhile, CPI state secretary Binoy Vishwam responded in a soft tone. Binoy said that Brittas informed him that he was speaking about the SSK funds to be received and that he trusted Brittas more than the RSS Union Minister. However, many within the party are deeply dissatisfied.
As an MP, I will continue to be a bridge to get the rightful share of Kerala from the Centre. I will meet with Union Ministers for the needs of Kerala.
