‘People have been arrested even for not paying hotel bills’; Boby Chemmanur clarifies reason for staying in jail

KOCHI: Businessman Boby Chemmanur clarified the reason for being in jail even after bail was granted in the sexual abuse case filed against him by actress Honey Rose. Boby told media that he spent one more day in jail to raise money for bail for his fellow inmates arrested in minor cases. Boby was released from jail after his lawyers completed the proceedings in ten minutes when there was a situation that his bail would be cancelled. The high court considered Boby’s act of being in jail seriously.

‘There are people including those arrested for not paying hotel bill after having food. There are 10-26 such cases. They are in jail as they don’t have Rs 5,000 or Rs 10,000 to pay for the bail. I promised to help them when they came to me. I stayed in jail for another day to help them. This is not contempt of court. I got the bail order only today,' said Bobby. He refused to respond further to the media.

The court harshly criticized Boby for staying in jail even after granted bail. The court warned that if he continues to play, his bail will be revoked. Justice Kunhikrishnan also asked whether Boby is trying to fabricate a new story for not being released despite granting bail. The court has asked the lawyers to give an explanation as soon as possible for his act.
