Samasta-Muslim League issue: Election result will be decisive

MALAPPURAM: The election result of Malappuram and Ponnani Lok Sabha constituencies will be decisive in the relationship between Muslim League and Samasta. The League leadership, which confirms vote leakage, will blame it on the anti-League in Samasta. The aim is to drive them out of Samasta by demanding strong action.

The League feels that Samasta President Jifri Thangal is protecting the anti-League. Assessing that the process will not be easy due to this, the League leadership is aiming to intensify the pressure and ensure the cleanliness of Samasta before the local and assembly elections. What matters is whether the Samasta leadership is ready for this. Samasta leadership sought an explanation from League supporter and Samasta Kendra Mushawar member Bahauddin Nadvi after the revelation that some in Samasta were trying to get closer to the Left, which has shocked the League. The division and infighting within the Samasta intensified as the League supporters also raised the argument as to why no action was taken against the Samasta Secretary Umar Faizy Mukkam who took a public stance against the League. A Samasta Mushawar meeting will be held on June 5 after the election results. The decision of the League supporters is to discuss the left orientation in the meeting and demand that the policy be revised. Samasta's mouthpiece Suprabhatam's policy change will also be raised in the discussion. The League workers had raised a lot of criticism against the publication of CPM advertisement during the Lok Sabha elections. Due to differences, League leaders including Muslim League State President Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal had not participated in the inauguration of the Gulf edition of the newspaper.

Nadvi stands firm

Bahauddin Nadvi responded to Samasta's show cause notice yesterday afternoon. It is reported that the league members of Samasta held a secret meeting and decided on the reply. Bahauddin Nadvi has given a note that he will explain the issues raised in the meeting and that he disagrees with Suprabhatam's policy change.
