THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state committee meeting that will be held today and tomorrow will finalize the guidelines for correcting the mistakes in the party and the government in the wake of the heavy setback in the Lok Sabha elections. The state secretariat meeting held on Friday had prepared a draft of the changes in the current working style and the priority order of the government.

In the state leadership meetings and central committee meeting held after the election results, it was estimated that even the primary votes of the party were leaked by the anti-governance sentiment. In the district committee meetings that followed, severe criticism was raised against the working style of the Chief Minister and the wrong approaches of LDF Convener EP Jayarajan. There was also a demand to remove the EP from the post of Convener. The stand of party state secretary MV Govindan was also questioned. There was a high feeling in the district and area committee meetings that the base votes were leaked to the BJP because of the neglect faced by the backward and scheduled sections from the party leadership and the government. There is also criticism in the CPM that MV Govindan's attack on SNDP Yogam leadership by hiding the party's failures will be more harmful.

The chief minister's style of working was widely criticized in the district committee meetings and it came out through the news media, which surprised the leadership. Campaigns of a disgruntled group of senior leaders against Pinarayi in the party have gained momentum on social media. However, the demand to change the Chief Minister was not raised in any district committee. Health Minister Veena George was also severely criticized. Apart from correcting the mistakes and moving forward, the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle was not raised anywhere.

The allegation is that the eagerness shown by the party leadership to settle the Kozhikode PSC membership bribery scandal has created doubt and suspicion among the people. The Minister garlanded and welcomed people including KAAPA case accused who was expelled by the BJP in Pathanamthitta. The party also criticized that MV Govindan's justification that the former RSS members who were welcomed to the party will be fixed was not in line with the communist tradition.
