Opening a photo on WhatsApp could lead to your phone being hacked: Know the new method of scam.
Scammers are now sending images to your WhatsApp as part of this new fraud. At first glance, the image may appear to be completely normal. However, it could secretly contain malware designed to extract your banking details, passwords, OTPs, UPI information, and even gain control of your phone — all without your knowledge.
This scam makes use of a technique called steganography, where harmful data is hidden within images in a concealed manner. When you open the photo, scammers can take over control of your device. Unlike other scams, you won’t even receive an OTP alert or warning.
