Man found dead at house compound in Kottayam; tied explosive to stomach and set it off

KOTTAYAM: A 60-year-old man was found dead at his house compound. The deceased has been identified as Rajimon, a native of Manarcad in Kottayam. He had tied an explosive to his stomach and set it off.

Police said that Rajimon had left home last night following family issues. Around 11.30 pm, a loud explosion was heard from the compound near his house. Rajimon, who worked in well construction, ended his life using explosives normally employed for breaking rocks in wells. The preliminary assessment is that it was a suicide. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
