kk

NEW DELHI: The central government has said that it is not planning to make menstrual leave compulsory in workplaces. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare clarified this in reply to the question of MPs in the Parliament. "Menstruation is a natural physical state. Only a small percentage of women face severe physical problems during menstruation. This can be overcome by medicine," the ministry said.

The government stated that it is implementing a special scheme for menstrual hygiene among girls. It was responding to inquiries from MPs Rajmohan Unnithan, TN Prathapan, and Benny Behanan.
