'Cigarette Komban' found dead, wild tusker electrocuted as per preliminary probe

IDUKKI: An eight-year-old wild tusker named 'Cigarette Komban' was found dead in a cardamom plantation owned Easwar, a native of Chinnakal's BL Ram. Devikulam Forest Range Officer PV Veji said that the preliminary assumption is that the elephant was electrocuted after coming in contact with an electric wire.

Officials led by Assistant Conservator of Forests Shantri Tom and Munnar DFO Ramesh Bishnoi reached the spot. The body was cremated after a post-mortem conducted by veterinary surgeons Dr Nisha Rachel and Dr Anuraj.
