Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia lands in trouble again; centre sanctions for prosecution in phone snooping case

dd

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs has given permission to prosecute Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The CBI sought permission from the Home Ministry after Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena gave permission to register an FIR against Sisodia in the phone snooping case.

The CBI had sent a notice to question Sisodia in a case related to the liquor policy. Following this, the sanction to prosecute in the phone snooping case was approved. The CBI probe is based on reports that the Aam Aadmi Party, after coming to power in Delhi in 2015, formed a feedback unit to collect classified information for political gain. It is alleged that this unit was headed by Sisodia.
