HYDERABAD: 15 kg gold was seized from the airport during the inspection based on the information received by the Customs Department. The incident took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. 23 people tried to smuggle gold in a flight that arrived from Sudan via Sharjah. All the suspects who smuggled the gold are Sudanese nationals.
Hyderabad Customs officials seized 14.9062 kg of gold from them. Out of which 14.415 kg is 22 carat gold and 0.491 kg is 24 carat gold. Its total value is Rs 7 crore. The accused hid the gold inside shoes, clothes and luggage.
Meanwhile, ten gold biscuits have been found hidden in a phone case in a luggage trolley at Surat airport.
