Indo-Pak forces maintain peace on border; ceasefire agreement between two countries has successfully entered its third year

border

NEW DELHI: India-Pakistan army maintaining peace along Jammu and Kashmir border. The ceasefire between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control successfully completed two years today. Looking at the history between the two countries, it is considered a rare situation that the border remained calm for such a long time.

Bilateral relations between India and Pakistan have not progressed much but the two countries have decided to strictly maintain the ceasefire, which has come as a boon to the people living in the border areas. Locals lost their lives as much as soldiers in the frequently reported firing and shelling in the past.

In the past two years, no casualties have been reported by either side in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army's strong defense systems have significantly reduced the number of infiltration attempts across the Line of Control. As a result of this, there have been major changes in the situation along the border, as testified by local residents. In 2020, 5,000 ceasefire violations or cross-border shootings were reported.

Local residents have been maimed and killed in such incidents and their houses have been damaged.

But no ceasefire violations have been reported in the past two years. Army officials say that since the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on February 25, 2021, only three minor incidents have been reported to disrupt it. But the Army also stated that there has been an increase in cases of arms and drugs being smuggled through the border by drones.
