Sisodia, Satyendra Jain resign from cabinet; drama in Delhi

sisodia-resigns-

NEW DELHI: In a major turn of events, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has resigned from his official post. Earlier today, the Supreme court quashed a bail plea from Sisodia and asked him to approach a High Court for the due procedure. The Delhi deputy CM was arrested by the CBI in the liquor scam case two days back. Meanwhile, Satyendra Jain, another minister in the Delhi cabinet resigned after he was caught earlier by ED in a money laundering case. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal accepted the resignation of the two ministers.

The special CBI court judge A N Nagpal earlier gave a verdict to hand over Sisodia to CBI custody until March 4. The CBI officials made arguments in the court citing a lack of cooperation from Sisodia in debunking the liquor scam in Delhi. Yesterday, AAP workers stormed the BJP headquarters and streets of Delhi in a bid to showcase protest against their leader's arrest. Security forces are beefed up in Delhi in fear of unrest from AAP workers.
