KOCHI: With the skyrocketing prices of basic domestic needs and the government stalling the subsidy, 200 Kudumbasree Janakeeya hotels have stopped taking away the jobs of many. 1184 hotels are currently being controlled by Kudumbasree which gives meals at Rs 20. A total of 5012 women are running the Kudumbasree hotels in the state.

THE Samridhi Kitchen in Kochi has an arrear of Rs 40 lakhs. The workers have asked another Rs 30 crore from the government to run the Kudumbasree business. They are hopeful about the government's help.

The Janakeeya hotel program was introduced back in 2021-22. A subsidy of Rs 60 lakhs was given for the scheme. The rule book says that the building and space for running the hotel should be taken for rent or either from a sponsorship. The local self-government department was supposed to cover the charges that come under electricity and water.
