KOCHI: Zonta Infratech MD Rajkumar Chellappan Pillai on Monday said that his company did not burn waste in Brahmapuram. Responding to the media about the controversies, he asked whether anyone would burn waste while the Rs 500 crore project is still there. Rajkumar alleged that there was conspiracy in the controversies against the company. He said that the company's rivals are behind it.

"The company did not win the contract through political connections. We got the contract because we are qualified and we have previous experience in bio-mining. We have not received the two letters claimed to have been sent by the Kochi Corporation. Some are using these fake letters to deliberately trap Zonta. The dumping of organic waste caused the fire. We are not responsible for that. Out of that 110 acres, only 40 acres is the project of Zonta. The company has suffered a loss due to the burning of waste," he said.
