IDUKKI: CPM leader M M Mani came with a repartee to the HC order staying ‘operation Arikomban’ which was meant to capture the rogue elephant that entered the human habitat in Idukki. Mani posted on FB an image of the elephant and gave a witty description saying the giant is a reputed one that has taken the life of 11 innocent and even has access to top lawyers in court. Mani later said that the lawyer never asked for any fees since the tusker is a revered figure for killing just 11 people.

The High court on Thursday called for an immediate sitting late at night to discuss ‘OPERATION ARIMKOMBAN’. The 'people for animal' organization working in Thiruvananthapuram came up with the petition challenging the administration's order of tranquilizing the elephant and shifting it to Kodannad wildlife. The move was stayed by the court till the 29th of this month and asked the local administration to find alternative options but also prioritize the safety of people in the Chinnakanal region.

Meanwhile, the Chinnakanal ad Santhanpara panchayaths warned about going ahead with big protests against the High court putting a stay to efforts to bring down the rogue elephant.
