Rains likely to lash state today, yellow alert in two districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that rains with thunder and lightning are likely to lash the state in isolated places. Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Idukki. People have been asked to be vigilant. Except Kannur and Kasargod, all the other districts may receive rain.

Temperatures have soared above 40 degrees in various parts of the state in recent days. Erimayur in Palakkad recorded the highest temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Thiruvananthapuram also touched 40 degrees. Meantime, there was lightning storm in Thrissur yesterday along with summer rain causing a lot of damages. Extensive crop losses were also reported.
