Case against Aashiq Abu, Bijibal for destroying M S Baburaj's legacy

aashiq-abu-controversy

The family of iconic music director M S Baburaj has reached the court filing a case against the makers of 'Neelavelcham' for using the songs tuned by veteran Baburaj without asking for consent. Neelavelicham is touted as the refined version of the erstwhile hit Bhargaveenilayam which was directed by A Vincent in 1964. The songs back then were tuned by M S Baburaj.

The ethereal feel and the soul the song induced into the masses got killed with the release of the new version, says the family of Baburaj. The late music director's daughter has filed a case against director Aashiq Abu and music director Bijibal. She asked the makers to take away the song from online platforms as well as television. The family also reached Minister Saji Cherian to look into the issue.

Aashiq Abu has long invested his time into the movie which he considers as a vanity project. His partner Rima Kallingal and Abu himself finance the movie. The songs are remixed by Rex Vijayan and Bijibal.
