THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC executive committee meeting, including senior leader PJ Kurian, strongly criticized Dr. Shashi Tharoor MP's recent reactions. K Muralidharan, who created a controversy by saying that he was neglected in the Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations, was also criticized.

Many protested against Tharoor's statement that if he was in the leadership of the party, he would have given the leadership of the anti-BJP fight to the local parties. The majority disagreed with Tharoor. PJ Kurien accused Tharoor of violating the Lakshmana Rekha in the party's policy matters. Tharoor is a leader the party needs. It is not right of him to make statements that cause a crisis for the party. He knows no organizational discipline. KPCC president should have a talk with him and give him clear instructions. Kurien said that efforts to weaken the party at the national level by saying petty things should be seen as such and corrected.

Johnson Abraham accused Tharoor of making statements that undermined the All India leadership that was fighting hard against the fascist government at the Centre. His statement to give leadership positions to local parties will destroy the bargaining power of the party. Such statements that he has been making for some time cannot be ignored. It should be seen as a serious breach of discipline, said Johnson Abraham

Pointing out that even senior leaders indulge in indiscipline, Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan said that discipline should not be enforced through cane or whip.

Women were not given a chance

Shanimol Usman criticized that women were not given leadership positions in even one of the five marches organized by the party as part of the Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations.

Criticism against Muraleedharan

KP Sreekumar criticized K Muraleedharan for creating controversy regarding the Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations. MM Nazeer accused K Muralidharan that there are leaders who cannot sleep if they do not throw at least one rock at the party office. Nazeer quipped that no matter how well a program is organized, eventually problems arise and it is like a dog sitting on a 'Pookkalam'.

Anwar Sadat said that the Arikombans who create constant problems in the party should be controlled. Majority of members in the meeting took a stand that everyone should pay attention to the issues that should be discussed by the senior leaders so that they do not become media news.
