NEW DELHI: The NIA fears ISIS involvement in the Alappuzha-Kannur train fire which took three lives in Kerala. In a similar scenario, ISIS workers found guilty in the 2017 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger blast visited Kozhikode days before planning the blast. Juxtaposing the two have raised many eyebrows and the officials fear this to be another of ISIS deceit in Kerala.

The 2017 Bhopal blast was the first ISIS-planned attack to happen inside India. Ten people were badly injured in the blast planned by ISIS chieftain Musafir. Back then, before the blast, the same workers were seen in Kozhikode. The NIA found this as a visit made by radical factions to see their newest recruits to Syria and Afghanistan from Kozhikode. The ISIS workers were caught from Mysore while returning from a discussion.

The NIA later found that the factions planned a blast across 8 locations in India.
