NEW DELHI: It has been found that Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in the Elathur train fire case, reached Kerala on Sampark Kranthi Express. The investigation team collected the CCTV footage from New Delhi railway station. The police are also investigating whether Shahrukh has any connections with the Malayalis in Delhi.

Shahrukh Saifi left his house in Shaheen Bagh on 31st March and started his journey to Kerala by train after 1 pm. It was found that he travelled in Sampark Kranthi Express from Chandigarh to Kochuveli. The police confirmed this after inspecting the CCTV footage of the railway station. It is clear that he reached Kerala by the same train around 2 am.

Through CCTV visuals, it became evident that Shahrukh Saifi bought petrol from Shornur. The pump employees said that they did not have any doubt when he bought the petrol. The petrol was bought from a pump a few blocks away from the railway station. The pump employees said that he came in an autorickshaw and returned in the same auto. He arrived between 6 and 7 pm on Sunday.

At the same time, the investigation is ongoing as to whether the accused have any connection with Malayalis. The police assumes that Shahrukh would not have come to Kerala and did such a thing without any help.
