NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Justice SV Bhatti as the next Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. The appointment recommendation comes in the context of the retirement of the current Chief Justice S Manikumar on April 24. The Supreme Court Collegium has handed over the file regarding the appointment to the central government. S. SV Bhatti is the seniormost judge of the Kerala High Court after S Manikumar. Bhatti, a native of Andhra Pradesh, has been serving as a Kerala High Court judge since March 19, 2019.
Meanwhile, the collegium recalled the recommendation to transfer Odisha High Court Chief Justice Dr S Muralidhar as Chief Justice of Madras High Court. The central government has not yet acted on the recommendation of 28 September 2022. The collegium recalled the transfer recommendation as Muralidhar is about to retire on August 7.
