MUMBAI: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for killing his two-year-old son as his girlfriend had agreed to marry him only if he got rid of his wife and son. The accused is a native of Mumbai and works in a private garment factory. More details regarding him are not available.
The brutal murder came to light during an investigation after the baby's body was found wrapped in a plastic bag on the Mahim Sion link road near Kemkar Chowk yesterday morning. The body was not identified at first because it had started to decay and was mutilated by rats, but the child's relatives identified the body later. They told the police that they suspected the father’s involvement.
In the further investigation, it was revealed that the child's father was living with a woman in Dharavi slum. He was arrested and he confessed to the crime during interrogation. He got close to his girlfriend while working in the garment factory. The girlfriend told him that she will marry him only if he gets rid of his wife and son. So, he decided to kill both of them. The plan was to kill the wife after killing the baby. He took the baby out by saying that he would give him chocolate and strangled the baby to death. He then wrapped the body in a bag and dumped it in a river. The police are trying to find the man’s girlfriend.
