MALAPPURAM: Widespread protests erupt over not allotting stop to Vande Bharat train at Tirur. During the first trial run, Vande Bharat stopped at Tirur and it didn’t during the second time. Tirur was also not included among the list of stops that came out. The protests erupted following this.
PMA Salam, general secretary of the Muslim League responded that excluding Tirur was a discrimination against the people of Malappuram. ET Mohammad Basheer MP stated that a strong strike will be organized. CPM will hold a demonstration protest and public meeting in Tirur today evening. Youth Congress is also organizing a protest.
The schedule of the Vande Bharat train service, which will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, was announced yesterday. Regular service will start from 28th. There will be no service on Thursdays. A stop was allowed at Shoranur. There are no stops at Chengannur and Tirur stations. The train will reach Kasaragod in 8.05 hrs.
