AI camera row: Principal secretary’s report is to be submitted next week

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Principal Secretary of Industries Department APM Muhammad Haneesh is likely to submit a report to the government next Tuesday, on investigating whether Keltron made a lapse in awarding a sub-contract to SRIT for the purchase of AI cameras. Industries Minister P Rajeev has assigned the principal secretary with the investigation. Although the matters to be investigated have not been prescribed, the scope of the investigation includes the allegations made by the opposition.

Last Wednesday, Minister Rajeev said in a press conference that everything was done transparently. It is yet to know whether Principal Secretary will give a different report than this. At the same time, it is also assessed that there is no possibility of any major findings in the investigation report, as the minister has stated that he will not investigate the sub-contracts.

Investigation about three matters

1. Whether Keltron failed to comply with the terms of the contract.

2. Working experience of companies that were awarded sub-contract.

3. The truth of the allegations made by the opposition.
