Panoor blast case: Bomb making also aimed at political opponents, says remand report of police

KANNUR: More information has surfaced in the remand report of the police in the Panoor blast case. The report said the bomb was made to target political opponents as well. All the accused had knowledge of bomb making. The police suspect the involvement of more in the case.

The police had until now said that the Panoor blast was an enmity between two groups. Meanwhile, new information in the remand report has come. Many including DYFI officials tried to destroy the evidence. There is evidence against the arrested DYFI leader and CPM red volunteer Amal Babu. Amal tried to destroy the evidence. Amal had reached the spot soon after the blast. Other bombs in the area were hidden 200 meters away. Sand was brought to the spot and tried to destroy the evidence. The police' remand report said that evidence was obtained of him communicating with the people who made the bomb.


All those directly involved in the case have been arrested by the police. Two of the twelve accused have been hospitalised. They will be arrested once they recover. Seriously injured Valiyaparambathu V P Vineesh (37) and Chirakkarandimmal Vinodhan (38) are still undergoing treatment.

Sherin, who died in the blast, is the first accused. Sabin Lal (25), K Athul (28), Arun (28) C Sayooj (24), K Mithun (27) and Amal Babu (29) were arrested earlier.
