KOTTAYAM: Mar Jose Pulickal, Bishop of Kanjirapalli Diocese, strongly criticized the government and the forest department on the wildlife issue. Mar Jose Pulickal alleged that the forest department is trying to turn the wild buffalo attack in Kanamela into an isolated incident. "When a wild buffalo came up and tragically killed two people on the same day, the forest guards were on the scene to protect it. If this wild buffalo had entered the Assembly or the party office, there would have been an urgent decision, right?," Mar Jose asked.

"The government, concerned and political parties should not forget that the wild buffalo does not have the right to vote. Many people are fighting hard to save these wild animals. No wild animal will vote for you. No one should forget that human beings are the ones living here", he said.

Local residents strongly protested after a wild buffalo attack in Kanamala resulted in the death of two. At first, it was announced that the buffalo would be shot, but the protest is still going on.
