NEW DELHI: The state government has moved the Supreme Court against Muslim League leader K M Shaji. The government approached the Supreme Court against high court's order quashing plus two bribery case against Shaji. The government filed a plea seeking permission to conduct an investigation against Shaji.
The high court acquitted K M Shaji in the Azhikode Plus Two bribery case on June 19. After quashing the vigilance case, the single bench quashed the proceedings of the ED. The state government then filed a plea in the Supreme Court.
The vigilance registered a case against Shaji for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the school management to allow plus two in Kannur Azhikode High School. The ED registered a case after this. Then ED confiscated the properties of Shaji and his wife and later they approached the high court against this in November. After staying the proceedings in the case, Justice P V Kunhikrishnan quashed the ED case.
