Should take charge as Associate Professor within 15 days; Priya Varghese gets appointment order from Kannur University

KANNUR: Kannur University has issued an appointment order to Priya Varghese asking her to take charge as an Associate Professor in the Malayalam Department. The varsity has directed Priya to take charge within 15 days. The order was issued on Friday evening. The university issued the appointment order on the basis of the order issued by the High Court division bench stating that Priya has the necessary qualifications and legal advice given by the Advocate General and University Standing Counsel stating that there are no legal hurdles in appointing her.

Meanwhile, University Grants Commission (UGC) has said that it will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Priya Varghese. It will also demand that the High Court verdict should be stayed immediately. UGC had sought legal advice against the verdict issued by the Kerala High Court.
