THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting was held under the leadership of LSGD Minister MB Rajesh to discuss various issues faced by hotels in Kerala regarding waste management. The meeting was held in Thiruvananthapuram where KHRA state leaders, PCB and Suchitwa Mission officials participated.

The methods of waste management in relation to solid and liquid waste management in hotels and which public systems can be used were evaluated in the meeting. A state committee was formed comprising KHRA state office bearers, PCB member secretary, director of Suchitwa Mission and other senior officials to take decisions on these issues.

Committees will be formed following the same pattern at district and regional levels. The PCB accepted KHR's demand to stop the practice of collecting fines for the last five years as fees while applying for the PCB certificate and the minister's proposal to waive it for a specified period.

The Minister directed the officials to find a suitable place across Kerala to establish a common system for waste management in hotels.

Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association State President G Jayapal, State Working President C Bijulal, State executive members Vijayakumar, Sundaran Nair, PCB Member Secretary, Suchitwa Mission Director and other dignitaries attended the meeting.
