Solution to plus one seat crisis; Govt announces 97 additional batches, more in Malappuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has announced 97 new additional batches to solve the plus one seat crisis in the state. Th cabinet convened here Wednesday approved the recommendation of the education department. 57 of the 97 batches would be in government schools, informed Education Minister V Sivankutty.


15 batches were allotted in Kasaragod, 11 in Kozhikode, 10 in Kannur, four each in Wayanad and Palakkad. There was a campaign through social media that even those who got full A Plus did not get admission. Some said that children of Malappuram will have to join unaided institutions. In Malappuram, 90 % of the unaided schools were allotted during the UDF regime. They said that they don’t want to join there. Most government schools were brought in Malabar during the tenure of the LDF government. After 1990, the Muslim League was in charge of the public education for 15 years. Those who didn't lift a finger then have now come up with political slogans, said the minister.
