No-Confidence motion: UDF loses power in Changanassery Municipality

KOTTAYAM: The UDF lost power in the Changanassery municipality after two Congress members supported the LDF's no-confidence motion. The motion of no confidence against Municipality Chairperson Sandhya Manoj was passed with the support of 19 of the 37-member council. UDF and BJP members abstained from voting.

Along with 16 LDF members, Congress mandalam president Babu Thomas, block secretary Raju Chacko, and independent Bina Jobi supported the no-confidence motion. The LDF leadership said that they will issue a no-confidence notice against the vice-chairman as well. Bina Jobi will be the chairperson for the next one year. After that, Krishnakumari Rajasekharan of CPM will become the chairperson. Congress members who violated the whip and independent member Bina Jobi say that corruption and nepotism were at the forefront of the UDF administration.
