KOTTIYOOR (KANNOOR): A king cobra was found in the kitchen of an Anganwadi in Kottiyoor. The children were sent home in the afternoon because of the rain. Immediately afterwards, the helper heard the sound of a pot falling down in the kitchen and saw the snake. After informing the forest department, the snake rescue team arrived and caught the four-foot-long snake and released it in the inner forest.

The kitchen is next to the room for children to play and sleep. The snake was seen near a milk jug. Snake rescue team consisted of Faisal Valakode, Thomas Kottiyoor, Benoy, Roy and others arrived and caught them.

Neighbours alleged that the Panchayat authorities did not take action despite bringing to their notice the presence of multiple holes in the earthen mound in the vicinity of Anganwadi.
