Prayers go unanswered: 17-year-old Ann Mariya dies in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: Treatments didn’t work any magic as 17-year-old Idukki native Ann Mariya died after being in hospital for two months. The death happened in a private hospital in Kottayam where she was undergoing treatment after suffering a major heart attack two months before. Ann is the daughter of Joy and Shiney residing in Erattayar, Idukki.

The incident happened on June 1 when Ann was attending a church mass. Out of nowhere, she suffered serious pain in the chest and collapsed on the ground. It was only after reaching the hospital that the parents discerned it was a major heart attack. Minister Roshy Augustine intervened in the issue and made all arrangements to shift Ann to neighbouring Kochi for better treatment.

Ann was shifted to a private hospital in Kottayam only last month after she emerged better from the heart attack scare. However now, all prayers went aloof as Ann Mariya departed giving shock and grief to the family and residents in Erattayar.
