THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister on Tuesday said in the assembly that the government has appointed an expert committee to assess the report on the Social Impact Assessment conducted as part of land acquisition for Sabarimala International Airport. He said that the government will acquire 2570 acres of land as per the recommendation of the committee.

"Environmental Impact Assessment is going on in connection with the Sabarimala International Airport. Steps are in progress to form a company to manage the airport. A CIAL model company will be formed like the one at Kochi International Airport. The government has granted permission to acquire 2570 acres of land belonging to Erumeli South and Manimala villages for the airport project. The Centre for Management Development was tasked with carrying out Social Impact Assessment on the sites to be acquired. This study has been completed and a final report has been submitted. An expert committee has been appointed to examine this report. Further actions will be taken on the basis of the committee's recommendations. The government has been giving good benefits in connection with acquiring land. If there are any difficulties in the future, a solution will be found at that stage," the CM said.
