BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court stayed the proceedings of the trial court in the money laundering case against Bineesh Kodiyeri. The high court observed that the case of the ED against Bineesh will not stand. The interim order is that of Justice Hemant.

The Karnataka High Court observed that prima facie case of money laundering will not stand against Bineesh as he is not an accused in the drug smuggling case. As the case against Bineesh has been stayed, he will not have to appear in the trial court until the argument of the high court ends. The trial court earlier rejected the release plea filed by Bineesh to exclude him in the case. Following this, Bineesh approached the high court with the plea.

Bineesh Kodiyeri was arrested in the case on October 29 in 2020. The Karnataka High Court granted bail to Bineesh a year later, with strict conditions. ED approached the Supreme Court after five months in the case. Advocate Mukesh Kumar Marori filed the appeal plea on behalf of the ED.
