Case is not important, will not back out unless speaker corrects, NSS clarifies stand

nss

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Nair Service Society (NSS) reacted to the police' move to close the case registered against the Namajapayatra conducted in Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the myth controversy. The NSS said for them the case is not important but want the Speaker to correct his statement. The NSS said they will not withdraw unless the speaker corrects his remark or withdraws it.

The NSS’ stand is to face the cases legally. However, CPM state secretary M V Govindan had earlier clarified that Speaker A N Shamseer will either correct the remark or will apologise. The CPM is unlikely to go back from it.

The police are trying to end the case against NSS in the wake of Puthupally by-election. The case is in the high court. As it is not easy to close the case in this situation, the next move of the police will be after seeking legal advice. The case will be closed after pointing no ulterior motive for NSS’ namajapayatra.
