DEHRADUN: A police officer has been suspended for saluting Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh while busy talking on the phone. The incident took place when Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was visiting the flood-affected areas in Kotdwar on August 11. ASP Shekhar Suyal was seen saluting with one hand while his other hand was busy holding his phone near his ear when the CM stepped out of the helicopter.

Several top officials, including ASP Suyal, had come to receive the Chief Minister on his visit. The video footage of the ASP holding the phone in one hand and saluting the CM with the other hand was widely circulated on social media. After noticing this, the top officials transferred the ASP to the Police Training Center in Narendra Nagar. Jai Baluni has been appointed as the new ASP of Kodwar.

Meanwhile, heavy damage and loss of lives are reported in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains. Several houses were destroyed and farms were damaged. As of yesterday, 81 people have lost their lives in the rains.
