KOZHIKODE: Disciplinary action has been taken against the chief nursing officer and nursing superintendent in the medical college ICU sexual abuse case. Disciplinary action was taken by the medical college superintendent based on the DME's report. Chief nursing officer Sumathi and nursing superintendent Betty Antony were found to have failed in handling the problem and so they were transferred.
The chief nursing officer was transferred to Thiruvananthapuram and the nursing superintendent to Konni Medical College. Nurse Anitha filed a complaint through them for the survivor. It is clear from the investigation that both of them did not take proper action on this complaint. The transfer was without asking for an explanation and at a time when the two will retire in April and May. In the same issue, senior nursing officer P B Anitha was transferred to Idukki. Anitha approached the tribunal and got a stay for two months.
The woman who had undergone surgery was sexually abused by grade one attendant M M Saseendran in the ICU. Following that, he was arrested. The police had filed a charge sheet against the accused. Another case has also been registered against the five accused in the case of threatening the survivor. A charge sheet was also issued.
