KSRTC salary distribution procedures complete upon receiving Rs 70 crore from Finance Department, says Antony Raju

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC has completed the necessary procedures for salary distribution as soon as it receives Rs 70 crore from the Finance Department announced Minister Antony Raju during a press conference.

Last year, the High Court ordered the distribution of coupons to KSRTC employees for Onam; however, the distribution of these coupons has not occurred. There is no indication that KSRTC has proposed to issue coupons to its employees. The delay in receiving funds is believed to be due to procedural holdups in the finance department. Currently, only the salary for July remains outstanding with pension payments having been made up until June. Efforts are being made to disburse pension payments for July. An amount of 80 crore rupees is required for the complete salary distribution process. Of this, 30 crores were previously allocated, an additional 40 crores have now been allocated and the recent injection of 70 crore rupees from the Finance Department makes up the total. The remaining 10 crores will be acquired through an overdraft.

KSRTC faced an additional liability of 20 crores due to the closure of the bulk purchase center. The minister also confirmed that the money received via SWIFT is being directed towards KSRTC.
