Comprehensive rabies control program to be held in September

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A comprehensive rabies control program to vaccinate dogs will be held in September. The project is being implemented in collaboration with local self-government bodies. The project will also have technical cooperation from animal welfare organization Mission Rabies. The department has formed vaccination squads in all districts for vaccination. Squad members are also provided with rabies vaccination. Necessary anti-rabies vaccine and other accessories are ready. After inoculation of domestic dogs, vaccination certificate will be issued from the veterinary hospitals. Based on this, licenses will also be issued from the local self-governing bodies.


Dog catchers are trained to vaccinate stray dogs. The vaccination drive is being implemented by ensuring the participation of animal welfare organizations and volunteers in the districts. Minister J Chinchurani will perform the state level inauguration of the project on September 2 at the Kollam District Veterinary Centre.
