BUDAPEST: India's Neeraj Chopra wins gold in javelin throw at World Athletics Championships. This is the first time an Indian athlete has won gold in the World Athletics Championships. Neeraj threw 88.17 meters in the final.

Indian players DP Manu, Kishore Jena and others also performed well. The silver medal went to Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem with a throw of 87.82 meters. Czech Republic's Jakub Wadle won bronze with a throw of 86.67 meters.

Neeraj started with a foul, but on the second attempt, Neeraj jumped to first place by throwing 88.17 meters. Kishore Jena finished fifth with a throw of 84.77m. DP Manu secured the sixth position with a throw of 84.12 meters.
