Long queue in polling booths in Puthupally, 22 % polling after three hours, Chandy Oommen casts vote along with mother and sisters

KOTTAYAM: Polling is progressing in Puthupally. UDF candidate Chandy Oommen casts his vote at a booth in Puthupally Georgian School along with his mother Mariamma Oommen and sisters Maria Oommen and Achu Oommen.

LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas exercised his franchise at the LP School in Manarkad. He casted his vote after offering prayers at his father’s grave. Meantime, NDA candidate Lijin Lal has no vote in the constituency.

A long queue is witnessed in the polling booths. After three hours of voting, 22% polling has been registered. Minister V N Vasan came to cast his vote along with his family at the booth in Pampady MGM Higher Secondary School.

V N Vasavan alleged that the Congress personally attacked Oommen Chandy. He said former DCC secretary Vijayakumar is behind the treatment controversy and challenged the Congress if they have the courage to conduct an investigation.

Voting in the constituency started at 7 in the morning and will end at 6 pm. There are 182 booths in eight panchayats. There are seven in the fray including three front candidates, an AAM representative and three independents. The votes will be counted on Friday.
