‘Uncle..is it right to urinate here’: innocent question provoked him, accused is member of a drug team

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More information have surfaced in the incident of mowing down a tenth class boy for questioning urinating in the premises of the temple. The police have got information that Priyaranjan has links with drug mafia and a team including him were nabbed with MDMA. Following top level intervention, he was not charged in the case.

The police have formed four teams for the accused and have intensified search for him. A case of murder has been registered against Priyaranjan. Kattakkada DySP Shibu V said the reason for the murder is previous enmity and there is no chance for the accused to leave Kerala and that he will be caught soon.

The shocking visuals of the accused running over the boy identified as Aadhi Sekhar were captured on the CCTV installed in the Pulinkode temple in Poovachal. Priyaranjan's grudge which arose from the boy’s innocent question 'Uncle.. is it right to urinate here' led to the brutal murder. The accused Priyaranjan came in the car at 4.56 pm on August 30. The time was 5.23 pm when he left in the car after mowing down the boy.

The tragic incident happened when Aadhi Shekhar was returning after playing in the temple ground with his friends. Aadhi Shekhar got on his bicycle and soon Priyaranjan accelerated the electric car (KL 19 N 6957) and mowed down the boy and then sped away from there.

The police investigation has revealed that the accused Priyaranjan is an alcoholic and the accused was drunk at the time of the incident and that the murder was pre-planned. The case, initially registered as an accidental death, was considered as homicide after the family raised suspicion on the mysterious death of Aadhi Shekhar.
