Harshad kidnap case: Four arrested

KOZHIKODE: Four persons have been arrested in the case of the kidnapping of mobile shop owner Harshad from Adivaram, Thamarassery. Alshaj (27) native of Thamarassery Ambayathode, Jabir (34) native of Koduvally Vavad, Nawaz (26) native of Koduvally Vavad Kannipoyil, Muhammad Jenees (24) native of Ambayathode Aramuk, Thamarassery were arrested by the team led by Thamarassery DySP Pramod.

Police informed that the accused have admitted that Harshad's abduction was related to a financial transaction. The police informed that ten people, including those who have been arrested, are involved in the incident and others will be arrested soon. Harshad's abductors dropped him near a bike shop in Vythiri around 9.30 pm on Monday.

The defendants gave the statement that it was expatriate Karat Salman who gave the quotation to kidnap Harshad. Salman who was in Gulf had paid Rs 10 lakh to a person in Kundamangalam in a deal in which Harshad acted as an intermediary. However, the person who took the money absconded. Salman called Harshad several times asking for money but he refused to pay. After this, Harshad was abducted on Saturday night after being called on the phone. The aim was to take the lost money from the relatives by threatening them.
