Man attempts suicide after setting son and family on fire

THRISSUR: A man attempted suicide after setting his son and family on fire at Chirakkakode in the district. Joji (38) of Chirakkakode, his wife Liji (32) and 12-year-old son sustained burns. Shortly after the incident, Joji’s father Johnson tried to commit suicide by consuming poison.

A family dispute is suspected to be behind the attack. Johnson, his wife, son and family were in the house. After locking his wife in the room late last night, he set his son and family on fire after dousing petrol. He then went outside.

Seeing smoke emanating from the house, their neighbours rushed the three to the hospital. Then found Johnson lying after consuming poison. Reports said the condition of the couple and Johnson are serious. Johnson is a security employee and Joji a lorry driver.
