Nipah threat persists; Chief Minister expects contact list to expand

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that preparations are in place to address the Nipah virus. He informed the press conference that the Nipah threat has not entirely dissipated. The Chief Minister emphasized that effective measures have been implemented to curb the disease's spread and it has not affected more individuals. Presently, there are 1,286 people on the contact list, including 118 healthcare workers and 276 people in the high-risk category. The Chief Minister anticipates that the number of people on the contact list may increase further. He also mentioned that scientific precautions have been taken in the districts of Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Malappuram.

"Mental support has been provided to children on the contact list. Medical services remain available online, and state labs have been established for Nipah diagnosis. A Nipah prevention calendar has been developed and precautions are being taken with great care," the Chief Minister informed.
