Bomb threat in almost 50 schools in Delhi; exams stopped, children evacuated

NEW DELHI: Several schools in Delhi and Noida were evacuated following bomb threats received via email. Police are checking schools with the help of bomb squad. Bomb threats were received at Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Mother Mary School in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar and Delhi Public School in Dwarka early this morning. After this, email messages were received indicating that bombs had been planted in about 50 schools.

Following the threat, the examinations to be conducted in some schools have been stopped. The children were evacuated and the police investigation is continuing. Nothing suspicious has been found yet. Delhi Police said that efforts are being made to trace the IP address of the email that sent the threat message, but it has not yet been possible to find out who sent the email and from where.

The examination which was to be conducted at Mother Mary School was stopped after the inspection. A state of emergency was declared on the school premises and everyone was asked to leave the premises immediately. ‘This is to inform you that the school has received an email message threatening the safety and lives of students. As a precautionary measure, the students are being sent back home immediately', the DCP said in an email message sent to parents.

Visuals have surfaced of children being taken home by their parents. Bomb detection team, bomb disposal squad and Delhi fire service personnel have reached the schools. Delhi Education Minister Atishi said that nothing suspicious has been found in any school so far.

‘Some schools received a bomb threat message this morning. After that, the students were evacuated and the Delhi Police is searching those places. So far, nothing suspicious has been found from any of the schools. We are in constant contact with the police and the school. Parents and citizens are requested not to panic,' Atishi said in a post on X.
