Do not give money to winners of Onam bumper, 25 crores must be used for charity works; Tamil Nadu native lodges complaint with Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Tamil Nadu native has lodged a complaint with the Kerala Chief Minister demanding that those who won this year's 25 crore Onam bumper lottery should not be given the prize money. The complaint was lodged by the owner of Brinda Charitable Trust in Tamil Nadu. The complainant stated that the first prize was won by a ticket that was sold in the black market in Tamil Nadu and that as per law, Kerala state lotteries should not be sold in other states.

The complaint was addressed to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Lottery Directorate. According to the complaint, tickets that were taken on a commission basis from Bava Agency in Kerala were sold in some parts of Tamil Nadu and therefore the prize money should be used for charity work. It was a news channel that reported this.

Meanwhile, the authorities said that there is a special committee in the Lottery Department to conduct an investigation on the prize winners and that the prize money will be handed over only after following all procedures. The first prize of this year's Onam bumper was won by ticket TE 230662, which was sold from Bava Agency in Palayam, Kozhikode. The lottery was jointly bought by Tirupur natives Pandyaraj, Kuppuswami, and Coimbatore natives Swaminathan and Ramaswamy.
