Newly constructed bus waiting centre disappears without trace

BENGALURU: A newly constructed bus waiting centre, worth Rs 10 lakh, has been burgled here. The stainless steel waiting centre, of Bengaluru's Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) located on Cunningham Road, disappeared without trace.

N Ravi Reddy, an officer of the company that is built the waiting centre, lodged a complaint with the police. The stolen waiting centre was provided shade to hundreds of passengers bound for Lingarajapuram, Hennur, Banasawadi, Pulikeshinagar, Gangenahalli, Bhupasandra, Hebbal and Yelahanka. The police informed that they are checking the CCTV footage of the nearby buildings.


A similar incident took place in March. A thirty-year-old waiting centre, located at Kalyannagar, disappeared in a day. This was constructed in 1990. There were similar incidents when a bus stand near Horizon School in 2015 and a twenty-year-old stand in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in 2014 went missing.
