Sabarimala cable theft: Seven Idukki natives arrested

PATHANAMTHITTA: Pampa police have arrested seven people for stealing cables from the BSNL tower in Sabarimala’s Sharamkuthi. Ayyappadas, Vikraman, Shafiq, Ranjith, Akhil, Asim and Jalil, were arrested for the crime. All are natives of Puliyanmala, Kattappana.

The theft took place after 8.30 pm last Thursday. 280 meters of RF cable, 35 meters of earth cable, 55 DC cables, 100 meters of landline cable, 5 pairs of landline cables, 50 meters of 10/20/50 landline cables and 5 MCB cables were stolen. The total cost of the stolen cables comes around to Rs 2.5 lakh rupees.

The culprits were caught after checking the CCTV visuals from Chalakayam to Pampa. The accused were caught in the investigation headed by DYSP R. Binu.
